HIV/AIDS is an issue that I have at heart, and I became aware and involved at the age of 16, volunteering with youth organizations that support people living with HIV/AIDS (PLWHA’s). I worked in many areas of peer education and counseling. I started experiencing what partnership means, and how important this is with HIV/AIDS. I am extremely passionate about Indigenous issues, and all facets of Indigenous struggles. I have worked in Treaty Land Entitlement and Specific Lands claims, which allowed me to gain invaluable knowledge of the legal systems for First Nation land claims in Canada. However, this was not the beginning of my introduction to Indigenous politics. I grew up in a home that was surrounded and occupied with people heavily involved in Indigenous politics.
